About

My name is Yuna Youn and I am a therapist with 6 years of clinical experience focusing on Anxiety, Depression, and Relationship Issues. This practice has developed the skills needed to listen with compassion and move past ambivalence, shame, and any other barriers to freedom and peace. While our approach will be tailored to you, I have found that in these times of transition and crisis my ability to blend narrative/logotherapy with the behavioral therapies (CBT, DBT, REBT) has been particularly helpful for my clients.

While my work is rooted in the “expertise” of a Columbia education and a Master’s from New York University, my approach is as a self care collaborator. Related to this, I aim to create deeper connections and bridges between notions of helper and helped, the privileged and oppressed, and the many ways our understandings of ourselves and others has become increasingly polarized. To become whole, to be transformed, I provide therapy with sensitivity towards the ways these experiences impact identity and our emotional and mental health. Working extensively with the incarcerated has also equipped me to hope and believe in my clients’ abilities to rise above their challenges and whatever crises they face. This hope will likewise reflect in the story of my work with you.

You are the expert of your own story, and I am a mirror and conduit through which we can tailor approaches that answer the longing for a well-lived, fulfilling life. You can read further about my professional background here, and connect with me for a complimentary 15 minute initial consultation here.
